KES Update - April 26, 2024
Hello KES! The sun is shining and the days are flying by. Our students have persevered through the state testing and have been outside to enjoy fresh air afterwards. We have a couple of testing days left. This week, we celebrated Mrs. Kutscher and Mrs. Simpson, for Administrative Assistants Day! We truly are grateful for the kindness and hard work they put in every day. If you see them, please be sure to thank them for all of the help they provide! Staff appreciation week is coming up soon. Please consider sending a little extra note of thanks to all of the wonderful teachers and support staff who care so deeply about our students! Thank you for your continued support from home!

Reminder - Missing Library Books, Student Fees and Latchkey Fees!
We are noticing some of the library shelves are missing books as the year moves along. Please help by looking for any KES books that may be at home longer than they should be, and send them back to school.
Please be sure to check IC for any fees that still need to be paid. Thank you!

Parent Input Request Form 24-25
As we begin the process of wrapping up the current school year, we can't help but begin to think about next year. Part of that process is the discussion of class placements. Classes are constructed in a thoughtful manner using data and input from current teachers at KES. We take many factors into consideration and feel it is very important that your input is factored into our thought process. You know your child best!
Although we do not make guarantees regarding specific teacher requests, it is important to have as much information about each child as possible before the class list formulation begins. We encourage you to share your thoughts and concerns regarding your child's personality, their ideal learning environment, and their social and emotional needs.
We recognize that parents/guardians are a valuable source of information to add to our knowledge about what works best for each student. If you are interested in providing your insights (not just a request for an individual teacher), please complete this form by May 10, 2024. Thank you!

A note from the clinic...
We are currently seeing an increase in illness within our community and schools such as Strep throat, Conjunctivitis or pink eye, and the influenza. Please help us to control the spread of illness by keeping your student home if they experience any of the following:
- fever (100.4 and above)
-Vomiting or diarrhea
-persistent cough
-redness, irritation, and discharge from the eye
-General illness symptoms that prevent your child from participating in routine classroom activities.
Your student may return to school when:
-Symptoms are improving and they are feeling well enough to participate in normal activities.
-Fever free for at least 24 hours without use of a fever-reducing medication
-At least 24 hours since the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea.
Please contact the clinic with any questions or concerns.

A couple of reminders from the KES office...
- Please be sure to call the office to report absences. We are very concerned when students are absent, and want to be sure we know they are safe.
- Please be sure that your child knows how he/she is getting home each day. Be sure to indicate it on the calendar in the take-home folder as well.
- For dismissal changes, contact the KES office before 2:00 so that we can adjust our lists and let the teachers know.

Drop off and Pick up - Car riders
The drop off and pickup line for car riders is growing. We are thankful to have parents who enjoy driving students to and from school, but we really need your help in order to ensure safety.
Please keep these things in mind:
- Stay in your car and move through the line.
- Pull all the way up to where the staff member is standing (near the high school).
- Adjust car seats/boosters so that your child can get in the car from the passenger side.
- Never allow your child to cross traffic when getting in or out of the car.
We are happy to help anyone who needs it! We just want to make sure that the line moves quickly and that everyone stays safe.
Thanks!
